Speaking to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, per FCInterNews, Cuca was candid about the 24-year-old goalkeeper’s future, stating that Bento has requested a transfer.
Inter Milan, seeking a younger goalkeeper to eventually replace veteran Yann Sommer, have shown strong interest in Bento. The Nerazzurri had already expressed interest last summer, and reports suggest Bento is keen on a move to San Siro.
Athletico Paranaense reportedly values the Brazilian international at around €20 million.
Inter will need to negotiate this fee, but their interest is serious and they appear ready to invest.
Cuca acknowledged the situation, understanding the goalkeeper’s desire to advance his career.
“He asked to be sold,” Cuca said. “He wants to play in Europe, earn more money, and compete in one of the top leagues in the world. Athletico has always had great goalkeepers, though.”
Born in Curitiba, Paraná, Bento joined Athletico Paranaense’s youth setup in 2013 at the age of 14. He was promoted to the first team for the 2020 season and made his debut in a Copa Libertadores match against River Plate. He became first-choice in the 2022 season after Santos left for Flamengo.
In August 2023, Bento was called up to the Brazil senior national team for World Cup qualification matches. He made his debut on 23 March 2024 in a friendly win against England.
