Jeremie Frimpong’s performances for newly crowned Bundesliga champions Bayern Leverkusen has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs across Europe, Soccernet.football reports.
Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City have all indicated interest in securing the services of the 23-year-old defender ahead of the summer transfer window.
Frimpong’s contributions have been essential to Leverkusen’s remarkable season, playing a pivotal role in securing Die Werkself’s first ever Bundesliga title and helping the team to the finals of both the DFB-Pokal and the Europa League.
This campaign, the 23-year-old defender has enjoyed the most successful period of his career so far, netting an impressive 14 goals and providing seven assists while playing as a right wing-back across all competitions.
Bild reports that the wing-back may be seeking a move away from Bayer Leverkusen this summer amid interests from a number of top European clubs including Madrid, United, City, and Arsenal.
Frimpong’s departure would present a major setback for Xabi Alonso and Bayer Leverkusen going into next season, having greatly benefitted from his contributions both in attack and in defense throughout this campaign.
The Dutch international is currently under contract at Leverkusen until 2028 with an enticing €40 million release clause included in the contract agreement. Top clubs will consider this fee an absolute bargain given the level of quality Frimpong has displayed all season.
Frimpong is yet to address his future, but according to reports, the Netherlands international must decide on his next steps before the upcoming European Championship in June.
