With three games left in the Saudi Pro League season, Cristiano Ronaldo needs just two goals to break the league’s single-season scoring record.
At 39, Ronaldo continues to defy age and expectations. In his second season with Al Nassr, the Portuguese striker has scored 33 goals in 28 games.
He is now just one goal away from equaling the record of 34 goals set by Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah in the 2018/19 season.
Last season, Ronaldo scored 14 goals in 16 league games.
Despite Al Nassr conceding the title to Al Hilal, who remain unbeaten with three games left, Ronaldo has the opportunity to set a new scoring record in matches against Al Hilal, Al Riyadh, and Al Ittihad.
Despite approaching the twilight of his career, Ronaldo continues to break records.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Record-Breaking Career
Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer and the all-time top scorer in the Champions League, where he finished as the top scorer for six consecutive seasons from 2012 to 2018.
With Real Madrid, he won four Champions League titles, two La Liga titles, two Copas del Rey, two UEFA Super Cups, and three Club World Cups.
In 2018, he transferred to Juventus for an initial €100 million (£88 million), the most expensive transfer for a player over 30. He won two Serie A titles, two Supercoppa Italiana trophies, and a Coppa Italia, becoming the first player to finish as top scorer in the English, Spanish, and Italian leagues.
He returned to Manchester United in 2021, finishing as the club’s top scorer before his contract was terminated in 2022. In 2023, he joined Al Nassr.
