Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly exploring a move for Nottingham Forest’s Nigerian international Emmanuel Dennis as the Championship side aims to bolster their attacking options before the January transfer window closes, Soccernet.football reports.
Dennis, 27, has found himself on the fringes at Nottingham Forest under manager Nuno Espírito Santo. He is currently unregistered for Premier League matches and has not featured in any domestic cup competitions this season.
According to The Star, Sheffield Wednesday are keen to capitalise on the situation and bring Dennis to Hillsborough.
The Nigerian forward boasts a solid Premier League record, scoring 12 goals in 52 appearances. His debut campaign in English football with Watford was particularly impressive, contributing to 16 goal involvements (10 goals and six assists) in 33 games. Despite his efforts, Watford were relegated that season.
Dennis’s subsequent move to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2022, however, has not lived up to expectations. Limited opportunities and competition for places have hindered his progress at the City Ground.
Sheffield Wednesday are not the only club interested in Dennis.
Reports suggest competition from other English sides as well as teams abroad, making this a potentially challenging deal for the Owls.
However, his Championship experience—19 appearances and four goals during his time at Watford—makes him an attractive prospect for the league’s physical and fast-paced style.
A potential loan or permanent transfer to Sheffield Wednesday could offer Dennis the regular playing time he needs to regain his confidence and rediscover his best form.
With his technical ability, pace, and knack for scoring crucial goals, Dennis could be the spark Sheffield Wednesday need as they navigate the challenges of the Championship season.
