Serie A giants AC Milan are preparing to offer Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze as a make-weight in their bid to land Bologna star forward Riccardo Orsolini, Soccernet.football reports.
Milan desperately need attacking reinforcement, as they have already fallen far behind in the Serie A race this season. The Rossoneri currently sit in 8th place on the league table after tallying 31 points from twenty games so far and they now face the serious possibility of missing out on a Champions League qualification spot.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Orsolini appears to be Milan’s main target to bolster their forward line in the January transfer window. However, the 19-time Scuddetto winners had an offer of €18m plus Noah Okafor rejected by Bologna last week.
The same journalist reports that Milan are preparing a new offer, planning to raise their cash bid to €20m and include a six-month loan of Chukwueze in the deal. The Rossoneri are looking to capitalize on Bologna’s interest in the Nigeria international by including him in the mix with a proposed loan deal until the end of the season.
However, the 25-year-old’s willingness to agree to the move remains uncertain, as he might view it as a step down in his career. The deal has not yet been finalized, but the coming weeks will reveal how it unfolds.
Chukwueze’s time at AC Milan has failed to meet the lofty expectations of many who saw him rack up 68-goal involvements in 207 appearances for La Liga side Villarreal. Since arriving Milan in the summer of 2023, the Nigerian forward has registered just 10-goal involvements in 57 appearances.
Having managed just nine starts and scored once in 17 Serie A outings for the Rossoneri this season, a move away from San Siro might be just what Chukwueze needs in order rediscover his electrifying best form.
