Akor Adams has arrived in Spain as Sevilla FC appear set to announce the Nigerian striker as their latest winter signing, Soccernet.football reports.
The 24-year-old forward, who has been plying his trade with French side Montpellier, landed at Seville’s San Pablo Airport on Saturday afternoon, according to Spanish outlet AS.
Welcomed by sporting director Victor Orta, Adams is expected to finalize his move with a medical on Sunday before signing a contract that will keep him at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium until June 2029.
The transfer fee for Adams, who has impressed in recent years with spells in Norway and Ligue 1, is reported to be €5.5 million.
Sevilla moved swiftly to secure the Nigerian’s services following a string of setbacks in their pursuit of other attacking options during this window.
Adams now becomes the third Nigerian player in the squad under manager García Pimienta, alongside Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho, though Iheanacho’s departure remains likely this January.
Adams, who turns 25 on January 29, has had a remarkable rise. After starting his professional career with Jamba FA in Nigeria, he made a name for himself in Norway, first with Sogndal and then with Lillestrom, where his prolific scoring caught the attention of European scouts. He moved to Ligue 1 last summer with Montpellier and has tallied three goals and three assists across 16 appearances this season.
Upon his arrival in Seville, Adams greeted the media with a smile and a thumbs-up but refrained from making any statements.
Following his airport reception, he was taken to the Sevilla offices to meet club executives and will attend Sevilla’s La Liga clash against Espanyol as a spectator.
The 190cm striker brings physicality, aerial abilty, and versatility to Sevilla’s frontline. With nine days left in the transfer window, the club is optimistic Adams will help bolster their attacking options, as they look to address recent inconsistencies in front of goal.
If all goes as planned, Adams will be officially unveiled after completing his medical and signing his contract on Sunday, joining Swiss winger Rubén Vargas as Sevilla’s second signing of the winter.
