Barcelona’s midfield sensation, Pedri, has revealed his dream signing for the club, and it’s none other than Manchester City’s goal machine, Erling Haaland, Soccernet.football reports.
Speaking in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Pedri was asked which rival player he would bring to Barcelona if given the chance. Without hesitation, the 21-year-old answered, “Haaland.”
Haaland’s electric form in the Premier League has caught everyone’s attention, including Barcelona’s young star.
With seven goals in Manchester City’s first three games this season, the Norwegian striker is continuing his record-breaking streak after guiding his team to six major trophies in two years.
Pedri’s admiration suggests he believes Haaland’s success would seamlessly transfer to Spanish football.
In the same interview, Pedri also shared insights into Barcelona’s new regime under head coach Hansi Flick.
Flick took over from Xavi Hernandez, who departed under controversial circumstances after briefly reconsidering his resignation earlier in the year.
Flick’s impact has been immediate, with Barcelona securing four wins from four games, despite summer financial constraints limiting squad reinforcements.
Pedri highlighted the increased intensity of physical training under Flick compared to Xavi’s era.
“We are working much harder at the club than before,” he explained.
The young midfielder credited the club’s new physical trainers, stating that the team’s endurance has improved, with players maintaining energy well into the later stages of matches. “The team doesn’t let up after the 70th or 80th minute, but rather maintains its physical level,” Pedri added.
Reflecting on Flick’s leadership style, Pedri described him as both friendly and demanding, with a balance of humour and discipline.
“He has that sergeant’s touch, but also that little piece of bread when he talks to the players,” he said, praising Flick’s personal approach in supporting the younger members of the squad.
