Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti insists there are no special players in his squad while discussing Kylian Mbappe and the club’s preparation for their UEFA Super Cup clash on Wednesday, Soccernet.football reports.
A star-studded Madrid side will be favourites to lift a sixth Super Cup trophy in Warsaw, Poland when they tackle Europa League winners Atalanta.
Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, and Rodrygo Goes were unstoppable in the UEFA Champions League last season and they have been joined by 2018 FIFA World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe.
Despite joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint Germain, Mbappe will be the star attention as he aims to win his first title in his competitive debut for Real Madrid.
Coach Ancelotti confirms that Mbappe is in proper condition and fit to feature against Atalanta but the Italian gaffer refuses to confirm if the Frenchman will be in the starting lineup.
However, the former AC Milan and Chelsea boss insists Mbappe will not be treated specially apart from the rest of the squad as there are no sacred cows in a group working to achieve common objectives.
“We haven’t had a great deal of time to prepare but we’re in top shape, Kylian [Mbappé] too,” Ancelotti told UEFA.” He’s arrived in good form and he’s adapting immediately.”
“Like all the other guys in the squad, he’s in line to play tomorrow. Since he’s joined us he’s been demonstrating really excellent quality.”
“There are no ‘Kings’ or ‘princes’ in our group. It’s a very healthy, happy squad and that’s really important for what we want to achieve this season.”
Wednesday’s tie is the third meeting between Real Madrid and Atalanta with the Spanish giants winning the first two encounters.
