Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti insists that Jude Bellingham’s role will remain unchanged despite the arrival of Kylian Mbappe as the team’s new star player, Soccernet.football reports.
Bellingham excelled in an attacking role for Los Blancos last season, scoring over twenty goals in all competitions and starring as they cruised to their 36th and 15th La Liga and Champions League titles respectively.
However, the arrival of Mbappe who joined from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, has raised some questions about how the England international will now fit into Ancelloti’s attacking setup in the coming season.
The 21-year-old thrived at the tip of a midfield diamond last season and while we could potentially see a change in Real Madrid’s setup in the coming season, head coach Ancelloti has insisted that Bellingham will remain an important player for the Spanish giants.
“Nothing changes for him. Nothing changes,” he told reporters.
“The first season, he surprised a lot, because he showed fantastic quality, a really mature guy.
“The next season will not be different. He is going to be one of the best players that we have, supporting the team a lot with his quality.”
Bellingham is yet to return to Madrid’s camp after an impressive outing with England at Euro 2024, where he scored twice as the Three Lions reached the final, eventually losing 2-1 to Spain.
Ancelotti was surprised by the criticism directed at Bellingham and the England national team for their performances in Germany.
“This is an opinion but Bellingham played really well at the Euros,” said the Italian.
“England played really well, they reached the final and were close to winning it.”
