Leny Yoro expressed gratitude to the Manchester United coaching staff for helping him feel comfortable after impressing in his first appearance for the club in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Rangers, Soccernet.football reports.
Only 48 hours after his transfer from Lille was finalized, Yoro made his debut start in Saturday’s friendly against Rangers, playing the first half of the 2-0 victory.
After the match, Yoro expressed his excitement about getting his first minutes on the field.
“Yes, of course, my teammates helped me a lot and the staff made me feel comfortable on the pitch,” Yoro told MUTV. “We are together, so for me, it is very good.”
Nearly all the pre-match attention was on Yoro after it was confirmed on Saturday morning that he was included in the 26-man squad traveling to the Scottish capital.
The young Frenchman was fielded alongside the experienced Johnny Evans who provided guidance and support as the 18-year-old distributed the ball well and made several excellent passes. He also executed two outstanding defensive actions, contributing to United’s clean sheet.
Reflecting on his debut, he continued: “For me, it was incredible. It was a very good game from the team and I am happy with my performance. I hope we continue like that.”
Manchester United head out to the United States next week to continue their preseason tour with the likes of Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool on their fixture list.
“Of course, we go to America on Wednesday and we will have three competitive games,” Yoro added. “The fans will be there, I know, and the team will give everything to win those games.”
