Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior has been named the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League Player of the Season, Soccernet.football reports.
UEFA’s Technical Observer panel made the announcement on Monday, June 3, a couple of days after the Brazilian forward propelled Real Madrid to lift their 15th Champions League title.
Vinícius Júnior turned in a series of sensational displays for Madrid across their victorious campaign, chipping in with six goals in all, including the clincher in the final against Dortmund.
“I’m very happy to be able to win another Champions League with this club, which has given me so much,” said the Brazilian international after the Wembley showpiece. “It’s an incredible thing. Not everyone can experience it and win it so many times.”
Overall, Vinícius Júnior made ten appearances, netted six goals, contributed five assists, and had the top speed of 34.7km/hr during the 2023/24 campaign.
Vinícius’ Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham was declared the winner of the Young Player of the Season award.
Both Vinícius and Bellingham were also included in the Team of the Season alongside Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane and Man City forward Phil Foden.
