Kylian Mbappe’s much-anticipated transfer to Real Madrid has been finalized and will soon be announced by the 2023/24 Champions League winners, Soccernet.football understands.
In May, Mbappe confirmed he would leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract, departing as the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Before his announcement, the Frenchman’s future had been a constant source of speculation over the past few years as Madrid repeatedly attempted to finalize a deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, all documents related to the transfer have been “signed, sealed, and completed” and Real Madrid’s already impressive squad will soon be bolstered by the addition of the French superstar.
The La Liga and European champions preferred to wait until the end of the season before making any public announcements about the transfer, but they are now free to do so with reports suggesting that an announcement will be made within the next couple of days.
The 25-year-old forward recently hinted that his next club would be announced soon, although he never specifically mentioned Madrid throughout the transfer saga.
Speaking to reporters after the Coupe de France win, he said in response when asked why his new club was yet to be announced; “Because I think the best thing to do is to finish saying goodbye.
“All I wanted was to finish well. There is a time for everything. I will announce my new club in due course. It will be only a few days away so there is no problem.”
Mbappe is now set to join a star-studded squad led by Carlo Ancelotti, which already features incredible young talents such as Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Arda Guler, Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham.
