The Blues are preparing for a busy transfer window under new manager Enzo Maresca. They aim to strengthen their squad as they look to return to the Champions League.
Chelsea have already signed defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer after the Anglo-Nigerian star left Fulham the Blues are linked with Jhon Duran and Michael Olise. The club is also reportedly in the market for a left-back, a goalkeeper, a centre-back, and a striker.
Despite signing goalkeepers Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez last summer, Maresca wants a ball-playing keeper for his system.
Initial reports suggested Sanchez might be sold, but now it appears Maresca is keen to work with the Spaniard, who could start the season as the number one.
Other goalkeepers linked to Chelsea include Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili. However, Portuguese outlet O Jogo, as per Football London, reports that Chelsea are also monitoring Diogo Costa.
Porto may need to make a significant sale this summer, and the 24-year-old Costa, with his €75m release clause, is a prime candidate. Arsenal and Manchester City are also interested in the Portuguese goalkeeper.
Costa has made 154 appearances for Porto. While a move to Chelsea seems unlikely due to the high cost, his situation is being closely watched by top Premier League clubs.
