Bayern Munich are interested in adding Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to their ranks and have opened talks regarding a potential transfer with the player’s agent, Soccernet.football understands.
Speculation about Fernandes’ future and the possibility of him leaving Old Trafford after four and a half years has intensified in recent weeks.
Although Manchester United are expected to be open to selling players this summer, it remains uncertain if they would consider offers for such a key player.
Bayern’s interest in the 29-year-old Portuguese international who is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2026 has been widely reported in the media and the Bundesliga giants have now seemingly taken action.
Fernandes, who was arguably Manchester United’s most important player this past season has been noncommittal about his future, emphasizing that he would not consider such matters until after Euro 2024.
However, before United’s FA Cup final victory against Manchester City, he publicly stated his desire to remain at Old Trafford in an interview with The Player’s Tribune.
“I love to step out at Old Trafford more than anything in the world. I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream.
“I just want my expectations to fit with the expectations of the club. If you go talk to any fan, they will tell you the same thing.
“We want to compete for the league. We want to be playing Champions League football. We want to be in the cup finals. That is the standard. That is what I want. That is what you all deserve.”
Reports also suggest that Barcelona are monitoring Fernandes’ situation at United and may also attempt to sign the Portuguese midfield maestro should the opportunity to do so arise.
