With no natural option for that position next season, Diaz has become their number-one target.
Previously linked with Nico Williams, Dani Olmo, and Porto’s Pepe, Barcelona now see Diaz as their most desired option, according to Mundo Deportivo. The club believes the Colombian international is interested in the move.
However, the deal depends on Barcelona’s financial situation. They need to raise enough funds to meet La Liga’s financial regulations, which would make the transfer more feasible.
Liverpool are expected to demand a high fee for Diaz, who has faced criticism over his performance in the last year. At 27, some may argue that Athletic Bilbao youngster Nico Williams might be a more cost-effective option than the former FC Porto ace.
Diaz joined Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022 for €47 million and is currently valued at €75 million. He has a contract until June 2027 and has scored 13 goals with five assists in 50 appearances this season.
