Serie A giants Juventus and German champions Bayer Leverkusen are interested in Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori, who has been impressing at Bologna, Soccernet.football reports.
Calafiori, a highly sought-after defender in Serie A, is desired by Juventus to bolster their ranks. Juventus remain a dream destination for young Italian talents, making the former Serie A champions the frontrunners to secure the youngster’s services in the summer transfer window.
With potential departures of Daniele Rugani and Alex Sandro looming at the end of the season, Calafiori could fill a crucial role in Juventus’ defensive lineup.
Calafiori is not the only Bologna star on the radar of Juventus, as the Bianconeri are also reportedly closely monitoring manager Thiago Motta and teammate Joshua Zirkzee.
Still, Bundesliga campaigners Bayer Leverkusen also retain a keen interest in the defender.
Under Xabi Alonso, Bayer Leverkusen have become the darling of many in Europe after winning the Bundesliga and reaching the final of the Europa League and the DFB Pokal without losing a game.
The Spanish manager also has a track record of nurturing talent, and that could sway Calafiori towards a move to Germany.
However, despite Leverkusen’s interest, Calafiori reportedly prioritizes a move to Juventus, as per Calciomercato.
The youngster will prefer to move to Juventus if Motta is appointed the manager of the Bianconeri.
Calafiori, 21, has made 28 appearances in Serie A this term, notching four assists. He is valued at €25 million on Transfermarkt.
