Wirtz has been one of the most outstanding players in a Bayer Leverkusen side that reached unprecedented heights this campaign.
The young playmaker was key to Xabi Alonso’s men winning the Bundesliga title for the first time in the club’s history while going the entire campaign undefeated.
He also helped them get to the final of the Europa League, where they disappointingly fell to a 3-0 defeat to an Ademola Lookman-inspired Atalanta BC.
The 21-year-old was named Bundesliga Player of the Season and former captain of the German national time Ballack believes the youngster has the quality to excel at Real Madrid.
“Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid,” the former Chelsea midfielder said in an interview with Sport Bild, as per Bein Sports.
“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it with Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB there: when you play with even better players, you become even better.”
Wirtz will be with Germany at the European Championships which will played on home soil.
The young playmaker will return to Bayer Leverkusen after the Euros as the club has announced that he will spend at least one more season at the BayerArena.
