On Tuesday, Chelsea and Pochettino announced they had mutually agreed to part ways after just one season.
The club is now accelerating their search for a new manager, with several high-profile names on their shortlist.
Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca is a leading candidate, while Thomas Frank and Kieran McKenna are also being considered. Former Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness is another top target, though his appointment is seen as challenging.
Argentina’s World Cup-winning coach Lionel Scaloni was approached through his agents, but he is unlikely to take the job as he is focused on leading Argentina in the Copa America next month.
Chelsea aim to announce a new head coach in the coming days.
Regardless of who is appointed, the club wants Fabregas involved in the coaching setup. Chelsea enthusiast Felix Johnston reports that Fabregas is being considered for a coaching role.
Fabregas, currently at Como in Italy, has played a significant role in their promotion to Serie A.
He initially joined Como as a player in 2022, became a shareholder, and took on coaching responsibilities.
Fabregas was interim head coach for seven games before stepping down due to licensing requirements, with Osian Roberts taking over until the end of the season.
Fabregas is set to complete his Pro Licence this summer, potentially allowing him to become Como’s full-time head coach.
It is uncertain whether Fabregas will leave his project at Como to return to Chelsea, where he enjoyed a successful playing career, winning two Premier League titles and the FA Cup.
