Arsenal are interested in Benjamin Sesko and now lead Man United and Chelsea in the race for the striker’s signature in the coming transfer window, Soccernet.football reports.
The Gunners are in the market for an alternative striking option to Kai Havertz who is a natural attacking midfielder and Gabriel Jesus who despite his contributions to team play, has largely struggled in front of goal this season.
According to The Telegraph, Arsenal have shown concrete interest in the 20-year-old Slovenian international and are weighing up a move for the RB Leipzig striker in the summer transfer window.
It is understood that should the Gunners decide to formalize their interest in Sesko, they would be in ‘pole position’ to secure the services of the 20-year-old ahead of other interested Premier League rivals.
Manchester United have been linked with Benjamin Sesko since his days on the books of RB Salzburg while reports have also suggested that the striker is among Chelsea targets.
Sesko’s release clause has increased from £42m to approximately £64m, having met performance related targets in his contract following an impressive debut season in Germany, during which he tallied 17 goals in 41 matches.
Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres while Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes are also possible options for the Gunners to bolster in midfield.
Arsenal will need to free up financial resources to spend on transfer targets in the summer with the likes of Emile Smith-Rowe, Aaron Ramsdale, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah, Nuno Tavares, Kieran Tierney and Albert Sambi Lokonga among players who could be on their way out of the club this summer.
