Bayern Munich ended the season without any silverware for the first time since 2012, having struggled to a third place finish in the Bundesliga, crashed out of the DFB-Pokal in the second round and lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
A disappointing season by all accounts given their lofty standards, Bayern have parted ways with head coach Thomas Tuchel and lined up Vincent Kompany as replacement for the German.
Soccernet.football has ranked the best players of Bayern’s worst season in recent history.
5. Kingsley Coman
The French winger endured his first ever season without winning a league title, having previously won one Ligue 1, two Serie A and eight Bundesliga titles with PSG, Juventus and Bayern Munich respectively.
Coman had different spells on the sidelines this season due to injury but the Frenchman was one of the best players for a largely disappointing Bayern side whenever he was fit to play.
The France international contributed 3 goals and 3 assists across 17 Bundesliga appearances for the Bavarians.
4. Alphonse Davies
Davies’ future was shrouded in mystery and controversy for most of the season but the Canadian did not allow off-field worries hamper his performances for the Bavarians on the pitch.
Naturally a marauding full-back, Davies sometimes had to feature higher up the pitch for Bayern this season due to injury absentees in the team, and he hardly ever looked out of place.
Davies netted twice and provided 5 assists in 29 Bundesliga outings for the Bavarians this season.
3. Jamal Musiala
The German sensation broke out in the 2020/2021 season and has never looked back since then, going on to establish himself as one of the most exciting young players in European football at the moment.
Musiala was one of Bayern’s key contributors in attack this season, constantly exploiting opposition defenses with his silky touch and incisive dribbling abilities.
The 21-year-old Germany international scored 10 goals and created another 6 across 24 Bundesliga appearances for the Bavarians this season.
2. Leroy Sane
The 28-year-old winger has been on and off since joining the Bavarians from Manchester City in the summer of 2020. However, this campaign, he was one of Bayern’s best players in what was a difficult season for the club.
Sane had an impressive start to the season as he struck a wonderful partnership upfront with Harry Kane, providing scoring chances for the latter while grabbing some goals of his own.
The Germany international contributed 8 goals and 11 assists across 27 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern.
1. Harry Kane
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker was the best player and most reliable source of goals for Tuchel’s Bayern this season, but his wait for a major trophy in his otherwise illustrious career will continue despite his best efforts.
Kane was an unstoppable force in attack for the Bavarians this season, dropping back to link up play with his teammates, creating chances and ruthlessly finishing off attacking sequences for his team.
The England marksman notched 36 goals and provided 8 assists across 32 Bundesliga outings for the Bavarians and he will be looking to carry his amazing form in front of goals into the Euros.
