Manchester United are leading the chase to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro, with talks currently underway, Soccernet.football understands.
United have had an offer accepted and are discussing personal terms with the young player.
Yoro, a standout talent for Lille, is expected to leave in the summer transfer window with United keen to bring the 18-year-old to Old Trafford.
French journalist Nabil Djellit has reported that United’s bid of €62m (£52m) has been accepted and discussions on a salary package are ongoing.
Real Madrid are also interested in Yoro, but United are ahead in securing the signature of a youngster already praised by some as a ‘world-class’ talent.
If the move goes through, Yoro could make an immediate impact at United as well as being a long-term asset.
While United are also interested in Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt, they may prioritize one key defensive signing. Additionally, United have shown interest in Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, although Everton’s valuation is currently too high.
United are looking to strengthen their defence following the departures of Raphael Varane, whose contract expired, and young defender Willy Kambwala, who has moved to Villarreal.
