The official Euro 2024 Team of the Tournament has been announced with six Spaniards making the shortlist, Soccernet.football reports.
After Spain defeated England 2-1 in Sunday’s final to lift a record fourth European Championship title, it is no surprise to see several La Roja stars named in the tournament’s Best XI.
Player of the Tournament Rodri takes his spot in midfield alongside Dani Olmo, who had three goals and two assists, and Fabian Ruiz, who also impressed with two goals and two assists in six appearances.
Atletico Bilbao’s Nico Williams and Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal are the preferred attackers after the youngsters combined for eight (3 goals, 5 assists) of Spain’s haul in Germany.
Only one German star appears on the team, with Jamal Musiala’s impressive output of three goals in five games giving him a look-in ahead of Netherlands’ Cody Gakpo.
Euro finalists England are represented on the Best Eleven list by Kyle Walker, who takes the right-back role ahead of the equally impressive Joshua Kimmich and Dani Carvajal.
France’s defender William Saliba and, Switzerland’s Murphy Akanji are the preferred centre-back duo while Spain’s Cucurella completes the team’s back four in front of French goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
