Inter Milan have set a €15 million price for their defender Stefan de Vrij, who is now a target for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad, Soccernet.football understands.
Reports suggest that Al-Ittihad, soon to be managed by former AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli, is keen to bring in familiar faces from Serie A, including de Vrij.
The 32-year-old defender recently had a strong season with Inter, helping him secure a starting spot in the Netherlands’ EURO 2024 squad.
FcInterNews reports that Inter Milan considers €15 million a fair price for de Vrij, considering his age and the fact that his contract expires next summer.
Al-Ittihad are reportedly the keenest to sign the Dutchman, offering a lucrative deal to lure him away from Italy.
However, Al-Ittihad are not the only Saudi club interested in the experienced defender.
Inter Milan are eager to finalize the transfer to generate funds for their own transfer pursuits this summer. Specifically, they aim to re-enter the race for Torino’s Alessandro Buongiorno, who is also a target for Napoli.
Napoli have reportedly agreed to pay Torino €35 million plus €5 million in bonuses for Buongiorno. However, they have not yet reached an agreement with the player and his agent, Beppe Riso. This leaves the door open for Inter Milan to make a late bid.
To do so, Inter needs to quickly sell de Vrij to raise the necessary funds and make their move for Buongiorno before time runs out.
