Matthäus, who led West Germany to World Cup victory in 1990, believes Musiala will be one of the standout players of this year’s European Championships.
Musiala impressed by scoring in Germany’s 5-1 win over Scotland in their opening match.
Matthäus thinks the 21-year-old could be key to Germany winning their fourth European Championship title, a triumph they haven’t experienced in 28 years.
Known as the future of German football, Musiala has been making waves at Bayern Munich and the national team. He debuted for Germany at 18 and has already earned 30 caps.
Matthäus, who also wore the number 10 shirt for the national team, admires Musiala’s skills.
He told the Munich Abendzeitung as per FCB Inside, “Musiala can play in a really big tournament. His performance against Scotland was top-notch, but that’s what we expect from him now.”
Germany will play their second group match against Hungary today at 6 p.m.
